According to experts, the bad air quality in Kern County could be effecting your health. On Thursday, the air quality was forecasted as being unhealthy for sensitive groups.
Heather Heinks with the Air Quality District says even healthy individuals can be affected. High pollutants in the air could cause people to experience symptoms of the common cold.
"You might have a scratchy throat, a slight headache. The same sort of conditions that might be leading into some type of respiratory condition and you just feel off," Heinks says.
Doctor Geeta Jayarum with San Dimas Pediatrics says that children are even more susceptible to the bad air quality. In recent years, Jayarum has seen in uptick in respiratory related illnesses in Bakersfield, California.
Experts say that when the air quality is bad, children should stay inside and even healthy persons should limit their outside activity.
