17-year-old boy shot multiple times in Lamont, suspect still at large

UPDATE (Dec. 2, 2016, 8:24 p.m.): Kern County Sheriff's deputies have identified the victim of this shooting as a 17-year-old male.

The victim is suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and has been transported to an area hospital for treatment.

At this time, his injuries are not life threatening.

During the investigation, deputies learned that the victim was walking in the area of Velma Avenue and Copper Avenue when an unknown subject approached him and shot him multiple times with an unknown type firearm.

The suspect is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, a person was shot three times in the upper body in Lamont on December 2.

The victim was discovered near Velma Street and Main Street. Crews were called to the scene around 4:45 p.m.

It is unknown if the victim was hurt or whether there are any suspects in custody.
