Kern County was a popular destination for those who left the Dust Bowl in search of a new home. Saturday Lamont remembered those who came to Kern County during the Dust Bowl with their 27th annual Dust Bowl Days.

Dry farmland and wind erosion, those were major elements of the Dust Bowl. The Dust Bowl was a phenomenon that occurred in the Great Plains of the United States during the 1930s. Many people living in the area impacted by the Dust Bowl moved west to California in search of a better life and a job.

The free event had live music from the era, classic cars and appliances that could have made the trip and stories to tell of the hardships of the 1930s and 1940s.

Money raised during the event from merchants and donates are put back into Lamont and future Dust Bowl Days.
