Local branch of NAACP offering free rides to polling areas to help people vote

Posted

The Bakersfield branch of the NAACP will be offering free rides to voters who may not be able to get to the polls on Tuesday.

Patrick Jackson, the president of the local NAACP branch, says the idea arose after several people expressed concern that they may not be able to get to polling stations while they were registering to vote.

"It's very, very important that you use your voice on the ballot box of how you feel because if you don't vote, you don't have a voice," Jackson said.

"And so if you complain, think things need to be corrected, remember, the vote changes everything. So definitely get out to vote and make sure your voice is heard."

If you need a ride to the polls on Tuesday, contact the NAACP office at (661) 368-5323 and schedule an appointment.
