Otto’s Video Games and More was hit by two young men Tuesday evening. They ran off with about $700 worth of merchandise. But, the store owner, employees and customers were right on their trail.

“I noticed them grabbing some things off my shelf and sort of edging toward the door and they just ran for it,” Otto said.

And it was all caught on camera.

In the video you can see two young men walking around with items in their hand. And when the store owner spots them, they make a run for it.

Otto jumped over his counter and ran after the men. Employees and customers did, too.

“So fortunate that [the] people that are here enjoy and engage with our shop as much as we do and were willing to try and help us when that happened,” Otto said.

A customer like Marcus Chavez, who says Otto’s is like home to him.

“It’s like a home away from home, here. I come hang out with all of my friends, we have a sense of safety and connection to the store,” Chavez said.

Chavez along with two other men hopped into a truck and found on young man in a neighborhood and were able to return those items.

Now, Otto looks back on the videos captured and is grateful for the community he has built within’ his store.

“I was grateful for them of even thinking they can even do that for us. We are so lucky that our gamers love our shop and love being here as much as we do,” said Otto.

The Bakersfield Police are still looking for the two men in the videos. If you have any information, you are encouraged to call BPD at 327-7111.
