Representative Kevin McCarthy talked about major issues in the state during a luncheon in Sacramento today.

During the discussion put on by the Public Policy Institute of California, McCarthy addressed immigration.

"We need to do something with our laws, because as you watched ten thousand children were sent up without parents in the process. Economically, we need to have immigration to be able to continue our growth of where we are going but it becomes a real challenge," McCarthy said.

While talking about tighter border security, McCarthy was interrupted.

Protestors began yelling, "McCarthy, where is your heart?"

McCarthy then pivoted to talking about the country's divisive times.

"When did we get to such a place in our country where we can't talk to solve our problems, why do we have to be so divided?"

The House Majority Leader also discussed the raging California wildfires and how to prevent such intensive fires in the future.

Tatianna Matta, who is running against McCarthy for his seat in the Senate is holding a town hall Wednesday night -- in McCarthy's absence.
