Updates: SoCal Edison says over 2,000 Kern County residents under consideration for planned power shutoff

Southern California Edison has issued another Public Safety Power Shutoff in several counties, including over 2,000 of its customers in Kern County.

The PSPS has been in effect since 4 p.m. Thursday and SoCal Edison said it could impact 2,041 customers in Camp Owens, Kernville, Lake Isabella, Wofford Heights, near Tehachapi Willow Springs Rd, Weldon, Onyx, Canebrake, and Bodfish.

"Due to weather conditions that may create the potential for elevated fire risk, Public Safety Power Shutoffs are under consideration in parts of the SCE service territory," the website said.

Southern California Edison said it may shut power off for over 1,500 Kern County residents during another Public Safety Power Shutoff.

According to its site the PSPS has been in effect since 4 p.m. Wednesday and could impact 1,621 in Lake Isabella, Kernville, Wofford Heights, Weldon, Canebrake, Onyx, and Camp Owens.

This comes after Edison issued a PSPS last week due to high winds forecasted for the county.
