Strong winds in the wake of yesterday's storm brought travel problems to the Mojave area where multiple big rigs overturned.
The National Weather Service in Hanford issued a High Wind Warning for Kern County's mountains and high desert for expected wind gusts upwards of 60mph. These winds caused 2 big-rigs to overturn on Hwy 14, at the Hwy 58 interchange overpass. California Highway Patrol, Mojave Division, told 23ABC Monday afternoon the big-rigs were traveling empty, which made them susceptible to overturning from the strong winds.
Motorists traveling through the area said today's strong winds were the strongest they've ever driven through, and had a few close calls with other vehicles on the roads.
Drivers are encouraged to allow extra driving distance between them and other vehicles, and avoid riding in big-rig's blindspots.
