Ordering food will get a whole lot easier for residents in Bakersfield.

On Monday, UberEATS launched for the first time in Kern County.

The food delivery service is $5.99 plus the cost of your food no matter how large or small your order is.

You can order online hereor download the UberEATS Apple's App Store and on Google Play.

Almost immediately after you order, the restaurant gets a notification and starts preparing the customers food.

Once the food is ready, the restaurant alerts the driver who picks it up and delivers it to the customer.

Patrick Winter with UberEATS said in similar markets from order to delivery is about 45 minutes and customers can track the order the entire way.

"The restaurant accepting your order to the restaurant prepping it, you'll see that on your app and you'll ge those updates," said Winter.

Not every restaurant will be available everywhere in Bakersfield. You'll only see the restaurants that are in close proximity to where you are.

Officials with UberEATS said it's to ensure your food gets there in a timely manner and to ensure that it's still warm when it arrives.

Currently there are around 40 restaurants on the app and UberEATS said it is still in negotiations with about 30 more.

Fresco Mexican Grill is one of the restaurants already on the app, the company said it hopes to draw in prospective customers through the app.

"Someone who wants to order a burrito or quesadilla or a few fish tacos, they're going to be able to get it delivered straight to their home, which is very exciting for us and our customers," said Even Aguilar, the marketing director for Fresco said.

If your favorite restaurant isn't on the app, UberEATS is asking the community to let them know by calling their customer support line or emailing them.

If you'd like to be an UberEATS driver, you can apply here. You must be at least 19 years old and have a vehicle.

If you own a restaurant and want to make sure your restaurant is part of UberEATS click here.
Winter said restaurants pay an activation fee and UberEATS gets a portion of the cost from every order, but Winter didn't disclose how much the activation fee was or how much percentage UberEATS gets.

A press release from UberEATS shows that participating restaurants include Deli Delicious, Fresco Mexican Grill, Knife & Fork Bistro and more.
