BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE: Bakersfield Police say a man was wearing dark clothes and was walking in eastbound lanes of the overpass on Golden State Highway when he was hit.
BPD says the man was hit by an unknown vehicle that left the scene.
The victim has not been identified.
We are following breaking news out of Central Bakersfield. A pedestrian was hit and killed by a vehicle on Golden State Avenue just after midnight.
Bakersfield police tell us the eastbound lanes of Golden State Avenue between F and M Street are temporarily shut down.
The person hit by the car has not been identified.

UPDATE (January 19, 2018 3:12 p.m.): All lanes on Highway 166 are currently closed at Highway 33 due to the crash, according to Caltrans.
