Bakersfield College is hosting a week of events in honor of veterans, and on Tuesday, they are doing something special for those serving over seas.

A veteran care package drop-off will be happening in front of the Bakersfield College administration building between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Items such as baby wipes, baby powder, and non-perishable foods like beef jerky and trail mix are all items that are staples for troops.

However, they will also be accepting other items that many don't immediately think about, like support letters for troop, and monetary donations.

"Monetary donations we receive today will be to help out with the packaging and shipping," said Armando Trujillo, the veteran's educational advisor at Bakersfield College.

The veteran care package drop-off is just one of several events being put on by Bakersfield College during their vet week.

On Wednesday, November 08, 2017 Bakersfield College will be hosting the Women's Veteran Summit between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. inside of the Fireside Room. Anyone is welcomed to attend.
