Fireworks, barbecues, American flags - all symbols of the Fourth of July.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the annual Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest is as much a symbol of the Fourth of July as the aforementioned staples.

Despite concerns over COVID-19 and social distancing, officials with Nathan's tell the Wall Street Journal they are moving ahead with the hot dog eating contest as planned.

It will take place on Coney Island at an undisclosed location.

There will be no audience in attendance and Nathan's and officials with Major League Eating say contestants and crews working the event will adhere to social distancing guidelines.

The event will be televised on ESPN on July 4.
