Man Sought In Tehachapi Killing Investigation

The Tehachapi Police Department said it's looking for a man accused of shooting and killing another man.

Police said on Thursday at about 10:30 a.m., the TPD received a report that someone had been shot inside a home in the 600 block of Brentwood Drive in Tehachapi.

Officers from the TPD, Bear Valley Police Department, Kern County Sheriff, and the California Highway Patrol all responded to the home.

When crews arrived, they said they found 39-year-old Stephen Christy who had been shot and was unresponsive.

Christy was transported by Hall Ambulance to Tehachapi Hospital where he died.

Police said the man and the shooter, identified as 32-year-old Logan Rafael Quiroga, seemed to have known each other and the two became involved in a fight, wherein the man was shot.

Police said Quiroga fled from the home with a white woman in a black Chevrolet or GMC 2500 extended cab pickup truck with silver tool boxes running the length of the pickup bed.

There were other people in the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured, police said.

Quiroga should be considered armed and dangerous.

Quiroga is described as Hispanic. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 210 pounds. Police said he has a stocky build.

Police said that they believe Quiroga may have switched to another vehicle shortly after the shooting.

A second vehicle is a Silver Toyota Corolla, California License 4RND443.

Police said Quiroga may have fled to the Victorville area.

Anyone who might encounter Quiroga is urged to not approach him. Instead, immediately call 911 and report the information to your local law enforcement agency.

Anyone with information about the case or Quiroga's whereabouts is asked to call TPD Detective Denise Brown at 661-822-2222 ext 107 or, if there is no answer, please call the Communications Center at 661-821-3239.
