FOUND: Missing couple believed to have been near McFarland on Sunday morning, found safe

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE: The senior citizen husband and wife were located safely in San Luis Obispo County Sunday evening after being reported missing by family, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.

The Grover Beach Police Department is investigating a missing persons case involving an elderly couple.

72-year-old Clara Ruth Vega and her husband Manuel Vega, 78-years-old, were reported missing by their family on Sunday. The two were out for a drive on Saturday in their 2004 Chevrolet Corvette with California license plate # 6KYV938. The family had contact with them around 2 a.m. Sunday morning and the couple said they were lost near Hanford, Calif.

Officers conducted a cell phone locate and determined the the phone was last in the area of Highway 99 in McFarland at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Agencies in McFarland, Kern County and CHP checked the areas with negative results.
