BAKERSFIELD, CA. — CBD products are going mainstream as major retailers announce they will start selling CBD products. CBD is an extract of marijuana and hemp, but it doesn't get you high.
Tammi Whitford says she and her husband use CBD oil for pain relief and raves about the benefits.
"It has been amazing for us. It has just opened up a whole new world. Everybody thought, oh CBD, it is a scam, it is a hoax. No, I believe 100% in CBD oil," said Whitford.
Ted Sisco, the owner of CBD Shoppe in Downtown Bakersfield says he sees firsthand how people are benefiting.
"Customers report that they get much better sleep using CBD, they get anxiety relief, relief from pain, it is a really good anti-inflammatory," said Sisco.
Other major retailers are getting in on the action. CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens announced they will start selling CBD lotions, skin creams and oils.
However, the Federal Drug Administration says there are still unanswered questions about CBD and the long-term effects.
The FDA announced this month that they are looking into regulating the use of CBD in consumer products, like food and beverages.
