2016 American Fitness Index

Posted
and last updated

The 2016 American Fitness Index came out and for the third year in a row, Washington D.C. wins as the fittest city in the United States.

The report is based on several health behaviors and environmental factors.

Washington’s low rate of smoking pushed its ranking to the top once again.

It’s followed closely by Minneapolis and Denver.

Residents in the top three fittest cities tend to walk more, have greater access to parks and have less cardiovascular and diabetes-related health issues.

In California, the Los Angeles area took 29th and San Francisco got 5th.
