California farmers and ranchers who suffered wildfire losses last year and this year may apply for aid from the United States Department of Agriculture.
The Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus, also known as "WHIP Plus" for short, is available to eligible producers who lost certain crops, bushes, trees or vines in counties that have a disaster declaration. Grazing and livestock losses other than milk will not be eligible for the program, as they are covered by the farm service agency.
Insured crops will receive between 75 and 95 percent of expected value.
