BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It's been a long-standing business in Bakersfield, but after 15 years Get A Gun is closing their doors.
Typically the shop sells thousands of firearms and ammunition annually.

Since the pandemic, the shop says they've had a large demand, but had a difficult time completing orders, because of a lack of supplies from manufacturers due to COVID-19.

"Remington shut down and Mossberg is shut down and that has cut their rate of production to nothing," said Utah Allen, a firearm salesman at Get A Gun."We can't get the product because of the restrictions placed on them by their state governments."

The store says that they have seen an increase in first-time buyers since the pandemic began back in March.
The shop shares they have seen an almost 500-to-600 percent increase in ammunition and firearms sales creating a shortage.

Get a Gun says they saw a similar increase back in 2016 during the election year.

Despite the need, their last day will be December 20 and the last day to pick up firearms is November 29.
"A lot of our decision to close was regulations imposed and put into effect by governor Newsom which will fine us out business," Allen said.
