Kern County Public Health Services Department has confirmed a non-resident has tested positive for coronavirus while visiting Kern County.

Kern County Public Health Director Matt Constantine said Tuesday that although this person tested positive for coronavirus in Kern County, they are not considering this a Kern County case.

Constantine said public health is investigating who this person came into contact while in Kern County. They have identified 5 people the patient came into contact with.

Public health said the patient has self-quarantined at home, but gave no other specific details regarding the patient.

Kern County public health has received 84 notifications from local doctors and health care providers that they are testing. 36 of those have come back negative while the other 48 are currently pending, Constantine said.

Public health is also currently monitoring eight people who have met the requirements for monitoring. So far 22 people have been cleared from the monitoring program.
