UPDATE: BPD arrests suspect Fernando Franco, connected to Wells Fargo robbery

(UPDATE 11/27 8:30 p.m.): On Friday morning BPD responded to an attempted bank robbery of the Bank of America on California Avenue. Upon arrival, officers arrested suspect Fernando Franco, 36, of Bakersfield. Detectives were able to locate evidence that linked Franco to a prior robbery, Wells Fargo on California Avenue.

(UPDATE 11/27): The Bakersfield Police Department released a description of the suspect involved in a bank robbery at the Citibank on Oswell Street Wednesday.

BPD said the robber is described as a Hispanic man, 20 to 35 years old, between 5-feet, 6-inches to 9 inches tall with a medium build. He was seen wearing a black face covering, dark-colored shirt and blue denim pants.

Police said they had not determined if this robbery is related to a robbery that occurred at a Wells Fargo on California Avenue earlier the same day.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a bank robbery at the Citibank on Oswell Street that happened Wednesday afternoon.

As of now, BPD has locked the bank down. The is no additional information at this time.
