One Louisiana family's Christmas card is doing anything but bringing joy this holiday season.

In fact, it is igniting a firestorm around the world.

The card shows a mother and two daughters with their mouths taped shut and hands bound by Christmas lights.

The father is holding up a sign that says "Peace on Earth" and a younger brother is giving the thumbs up sign.

Critics say that the photo is sexist and sends the message that women should not speak.

The family is standing by the photo though and says that it was meant as a joke. The photographer has also posted a statement after being the target of "some very hateful and vulgar comments and messages."

Not everyone is upset about the photo though. The family and photographer have also received messages of support.
