On May 25, 2017 at 9:08 a.m., officers with the Bakersfield Police Department responded to Washington Junior High in Northeast Bakersfield due to a student reporting he received a threat of being shot during the school day while on the school campus.
Officers determined the male juvenile victim, who is a student at Washington Junior High, received a message from an unknown profile on Instagram.
The message stated the suspect was going to shoot the victim, as well as, one of the victim’s friends.
Officers identified the 13-year-old male suspect and determined he was an acquaintance of the victims.
Officers were able to confirm that the suspect did make a threat, however, was only done to scare the victims.
The suspect did not attend Washington Junior High, and he was ultimately arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall for criminal threats and creating a false emergency.
