5th Annual Media Music Jam raises $70,000 to aid cancer patients

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The 5th Annual Media Music Jam raised approximately $70,000 on Saturday to aid Kern County residents battling cancer.

The concert, held at Buck Owens' Crystal Palace, brought in proceeds that benefit the Kern County Cancer Fund and will financially assist qualified Kern County residents with cancer-related treatments and services, according to a release on Sunday.

"We appreciate the community support and are grateful that all monies raised will go directly to cancer related services for Kern County residents," said Michelle Avila, the Kern County Cancer Fund executive director.

The concert featured local media personalities including 23 ABC's Mike Hart, Leah Pezzetti, Emma Lockhart and Allison Gargaro. Bakersfield Mayor Karen Goh, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood and Bakersfield Police Chief Lyle Martin were also among the performers who took the stage.
