729 Nestle employees will be temporarily laid off due to factory upgrades to the company's Bakersfield location.
The factory will be closed for four to six weeks for factory upgrades, according to a WARN letter sent to the Kern County Board of Supervisors. According to that letter, 729 employees will be temporarily laid off during that time. 41 employees have volunteered for permanent layoffs.
The first round of layoffs will start on November 30, 2018 and continue through December 30, 2018. The Bakersfield location is located on District Boulevard in Southwest Bakersfield.
