Arvin Police: Report shows overall crime has decreased in past year

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Arvin Police Department has released their crime statistics over the past five years, and the numbers show that from 2017 to 2018 total crime decreased by approximately 30 percent.

In 8 categories; homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, assault, burglary, larceny/theft and stolen vehicle, the city decreased in crime.

One of the biggest decreases was in theft with the department reporting 236 incidences of theft in 2017. The report shows that in 2018 they reported 146 theft-related arrests.

Homicide, Rape and Assault incidences each decreased by 4 incidences.

The Arvin Police Department also reported that the total felony arrests decreased from 189 to 174.
