Students and staff at Bakersfield College are being warned about more incidents involving a suspicious man approaching people jogging in the area.

This comes just a few weeks after a student ran for help on the campus after being approached by a driver with a similar description.

Bakersfield College sent this note to students on Tuesday:

A message from KERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT

It has been brought to the attention of the Bakersfield College Public Safety Office that there have been two additional incidents involving a white male adult driving a gold Camry following female joggers in the BC area on Panorama Drive. These incidents occurred on Panorama Drive just east of the college campus.

On Sunday, September 4th, at about 5:30 am, two female joggers were followed by a male in a gold Camry. The male made a U-turn, which placed him facing the joggers, and stopped. As the females approached, he turned on his high beams and started to exit his vehicle. The female joggers then walked up to a residence and began knocking on the door to seek assistance. The male then walked up to the residence next to them and pretended to knock on the door and told the females, “Good morning ladies”. When the homeowner of the home the females were at opened the door, the male fled the area.

On Monday, September 12, at about 5:35 am in the same area, two female joggers were just east of the campus when a gold Toyota Camry made a U-turn and then slowly passed one of the joggers. The vehicle stopped and backed up to the closest female. The vehicle was occupied by two white males. The second female ran up to her friend, and another group of female joggers also ran to the area. The vehicle then fled east on Panorama Drive.

Although no crime was committed, Bakersfield College wanted to notify you of the information we received to make you aware of incidents involving a gold Toyota Camry in the area of Bakersfield College approaching females in the early morning hours, so you can take protective measures and be aware of your surroundings if you are out jogging in the mornings.

Please notify the Bakersfield College Department of Public Safety at (661) 395-4554 if you see or are approached by anyone driving a vehicle matching the description of the older gold Toyota Camry.
