A Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings will be served on Sunday, November 20, 2016, for current and past residents of the Bakersfield Homeless Center located at 1600 East Truxtun Avenue from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
“It is important to help families who live with us and also those we have placed into homes so they can gather together as a family this holiday season, ” said BHC’s CEO Louis Gill.
BHC is asking the community for donations of hams, pies, rolls, butter, potatoes, cranberry sauce, coffee and vegetables in order to provide a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for residents and those who have been successfully placed in housing and are receiving our aftercare services.
Last year, BHC successfully fed over 500 people at the Thanksgiving meal and expect to serve the same amount this year.
The Bakersfield Homeless Center staff and community volunteers have prepared and served a Thanksgiving meal for the homeless for close to two decades.
