The Kern County Veterans Service Department held a ceremony for the 241st birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps Thursday.
The ceremony included the presentation of the colors, the national anthem, and remarks from the 13th Commandant of the Marine Corps.
The Corps was initially known as the Continental Marines, founded in 1775.
