Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 1303 hours (1:03 p.m. PST) a reinforced alarm from the Bakersfield Fire Department responded to a reported garage fire in a single-story, single-family structure located at 6009 Webb Street.
The response included 3 Engines, 2 Trucks, 2 Battalion Commanders, 1 Arson Unit, and county fire units. First arriving BFD units reported a working fire in a single-story, single-family residential structure.
Heavy smoke and fire reported venting from the garage.
There were also initial reports of explosions coming from the garage. BFD Engine Company Firefighters aggressively deployed hoselines for a direct, interior attack on the blaze.
The incident Commander requested vertical ventilation and also requested water supply.
A search of the structure found no occupants inside. BFD Arson Investigators were dispatched to the scene to determine origin and cause of the fire. The fire is currently under investigation.
