Bomb and mass shooting threats caused several U.S. schools to shut down today and officials say some of the threatening calls were routed through Bakersfield.
According to the Washington Post, more than 30 schools in the U.S. fell victim to bomb threats and apparently all of them were fake.
More than 20 schools in New Jersey received threats and schools in Iowa City, Iowa, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Mesa, Arizona, North Miami, Florida and Boston were evacuated or put on lock down due to the anonymous threats of violence.
23ABC News has reached out to the FBI to find out why investigators believe the calls have a Bakersfield connection but no word yet from officials tonight.
