BPD citizen volunteer helps catch, fight garage fire in South Bakersfield

Bakersfield Police Department citizen volunteer Robert “Bob” King assisted in a garage fire that happened in South Bakersfield late Thursday morning.

King was patrolling the area when he noticed a house garage on fire. King knocked on the door of the home, alerting three residents inside. King helped two residents across the street while the third tried to extinguish the fire.

King also helped rescue a dog inside the home.

One resident suffered minor injuries while trying to move a vehicle in the garage.

The fire was mostly contained to the garage.
