The ongoing financial situation in California City has led to the lack of a community fireworks display tonight.
California City Police Chief Eric Hurtado sent out a press release today reminding citizens that there will be no display.
"There have been many inquiries and rumors about a city Fireworks display. Due to our current fiscal emergency, there will NOT be any city fireworks display at Central Park this year. There are several other cities that will have fireworks displays tonight."
The release went on to say the city's animal shelter volunteers will be available Thursday to help reunite lost pets with their owners.
It also said non-emergency calls into 9-1-1 "will experience delays during these times."
