California Highway Patrol has announced that Thanksgiving weekend will be a Maximum Enforcement Period (MEP) starting Wednesday at 6 p.m. and running until Sunday at midnight.
All available officers will be on patrol during this time.
The Thanksgiving holiday weekend is one of the deadliest on the road. In 2015, 35 people died in collisions in California over Thanksgiving weekend.
