BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to the City of Shafter, residents have recently been reporting suspicious phone calls with "City of Shafter" appearing on the caller ID.
The illegitimate calls have been for a number of reasons including water bill issues, loans, etc.
The city wants to remind people that they are not legitimate and that they will never ask for your bank information.
If you ever question the legitimacy of a call, ask which department the person is calling from, hang up and call the city at 746-5000 to confirm the legitimacy.
