Pastors from different denominations and ethnicities gathered Tuesday for a city-wide prayer night at the Nile Theater.

The event took place from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in downtown Bakersfield.

According to a post on the Facebook event from KAXL 88.3, four city pastors will be at the event including pastor Chris Davis from Hingepoint Church, pastor Joshua Long from 1st Assembly, and Carlos Baldavinos from The Mission at Kern County.

Jess Swatzell, Hingepoint Church's curriculum experience leader, said the goal of the event was to unify everybody.

"More than half of the people that have walked in the door are not even members of Hingepoint church," Swatzell said.

Community member Angie Foust attended to pray with her community.

"The news and everything that's going on, my heart has been heavy and I can't pray alone anymore. I wanted to come down here and be lifted up with everyone else."
