Assemblyman Vince Fong honored Covenant Coffee as the 34th Assembly District's 2018 Nonprofit of the Year on Wednesday.
Covenant Coffee is a nonprofit coffee company that trains and employs former foster youth in an effort to help them find success in the workplace.
"Covenant Coffee provides a foundation and hope for former foster youth in our community," Fong said. "Every day Covenant Coffee is changing lives and helping our youth in need in Kern County. I am very proud of the work they do and it is my privilege to honor Covenant Coffee as our Nonprofit of the Year."
The recognition was part of the third annual California Nonprofits Day Celebrations hosted by CalNonprofits where nonprofit honorees are recognized at the Capitol.
Covenant Coffee was founded in 2010.
