Local educator Gloria M. Burr and the late Billy D. Reed Jr. have made a legacy gift to establish three endowments and help the next phase in the Kegley Center for Student Success.

Reed Jr., an Air Force veteran, played on the Roadrunners men's basketball team from 1974 to 1976.

The first endowment will provide scholarships for students pursuing a single subject, multiple subject or special education teaching credential. An educator for more than 30 years in Kern County, Burr would like to impact the next generation of educators in Kern County.

The next endowment will provide a scholar-athlete with the greatest financial need an opportunity to study at CSUB. This endowment is to support talented young athletes in honor of Reed Jr.

Lastly, an endowment will be established to provide annual funds to athletics to help support the continuing needs for capital improvements. In support of the next phase in CSUB Athletics, Ms. Burr would like to establish an endowment to support the greatest capital needs and impact as many scholar-athletes as possible.

“It’s legacy gifts like this that will ensure CSUB and CSUB Athletics have a bright future. We are thankful for Ms. Burr and her generosity.”
