The Kern High School District has approved a safety plan for bringing guns on campus, and one group is speaking out in opposition.
The Dolores Huerta Foundation wants to convince the district’s Board of Trustees to reject it. The group has a petition on moveon.org.
They are asking that KHSD schools remain gun-free and are hoping to get at least 400 signatures in support.
Last month the district passed a new policy allowing staff with CWW permits to bring firearms on school campuses. The policy is expected to go into effect in six months.
