Driver hits the accelerator instead of the brake and crashes into church in southwest Bakersfield

A sedan crashed into a building in southwest Bakersfield Sunday morning. 

It happened just after 9:30 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church near Stine Rd and Parker Avenue.

According to the Kern County Fire Department the driver of the vehicle hit the accelerator instead of the brake. 

Officials said a woman was brushed by the car when it accelerated and had a scraped knee, but refused medical treatment.
