Windwolves Preserve is one of Kern County's best hidden secrets, and thanks to recent warmth and plenty of rain, wildflowers have bloomed.
Typically wildflowers bloom in March and April, but have bloomed a few weeks ahead of schedule. Rangers at Windwolves Preserve say during a "Superbloom", the foothills can be covered with various species of flowers of wildflowers making for incredible views. There is a designated wildflower trail near the entrance of the preserve with a small parking lot for visitors to access the trailhead.
