An employee of the El Tejon Unified School District is under investigation amid reports of possible inappropriate conduct involving a student, the district superintendent told 23ABC on Friday.

District officials couldn't confirm the person's name, position in the district, or the date of the alleged conduct -- but Superintendent Rodney Wallace issued this statement:

The El Tejon Unified School District recently received reports of possible inappropriate conduct by an employee of the District that involved one of our students. While this is a personnel matter and therefore we cannot disclose details, the District would like to assure the community that the conduct was NOT of a sexual nature.
The safety of our students and staff is of paramount importance to the District.  As is standard practice under these circumstances, local law enforcement has been contacted and the employee has been placed on paid administrative leave pending an internal personnel investigation into the allegations.
The district is fully cooperating with law enforcement and awaits further information as they investigate these allegations.
The El Tejon Unified School District is located in Lebec in southern Kern County.
