Fire crews battle two separate brush fires on Golden State Freeway

Kern County Fire crews were on scene of two separate brush fires along the 204/Golden State Freeway Saturday.

The fires broke out shortly before noon. One fire was reported at the 204 and southbound 99 Freeway connector.

The second fire broke out on the eastbound 204 Freeway near Airport Drive.

All lanes of the westbound 204 Freeway were shut down at F Street as crews battled the blaze.

One lane of both the eastbound 204 and the southbound 99 freeways were also closed.

According to KCFD, three Eucalyptus trees were burned. Two of them had to be cut down.

Bakersfield City Fire crews were called to assist KCFD.

Fire fighters were able to knockdown the fire around 12:30 p.m.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fires is unknown at this time.
