The San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District has issued the first fireplace burning prohibition of the season for the southern Kern County mountain areas on Saturday, November 25, 2017.
The day long restriction prohibits the use of unregistered devices due to the poor air quality until midnight of November 25, 2017.
The Check Before You Burn No Burning Unless Registered wood-burning restriction requires that residents register their emission-compliant wood-burning device with the district.
Check Before You Burn runs from November through February and reduces wintertime particulate pollution by restricting the use of wood-burning devices.
