The lawyer of California City Chief Eric Hurtado released a statement Thursday claiming Hurtado’s Facebook account had been hacked.

He was contacted by a Cal City city hall employee who said Police Department personnel “accidently” broke into his personal Facebook account and changed his password.

The caller, a human resources department employee, told Hurtado his new password. Allegedly, the hackers also posted a post that appeared on his page on Saturday, February 25, 2017 while Hurtado was in ICU for a minor medical crisis.

Hurtado has filed a criminal report with the Sheriff’s Department.

Chief Hurtado has been on administrative leave since October 2016 for other allegations.
