54-year-old Sally Hernandez of Sylmar, Calif. was assaulted by another on April 4, 2012 in Bakersfield. On March 9, 2016 she died as a result of her injuries sustained from the assault.

After a postmortem examination the cause of death is hypertrophic heart disease with other significant conditions of sequelae of old blunt neck trauma, atherosclerotic heart disease (plaque build up in arteries), diabetes, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia (high levels of fat particles in blood). Her manner of death is homicide.

It is unclear if the medical issues stemmed from the 2012 attack.
