Average retail gasoline prices in Bakersfield have risen 0.5 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.87 per gallon yesterday, February 19, 2017, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 300 gas outlets in Bakersfield.
While Bakersfield's gas prices have risen, the national average that has fallen 0.3 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.27 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com. Including the change in gas prices in Bakersfield during the past week, prices yesterday were 57.2 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 8.2 cents per gallon higher than a month ago.
The national average has decreased 3.8 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 56.0 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
"The ongoing saga of global oil production limitations becomes less important as refineries begin the early stages of maintenance and turnarounds to accommodate summer gasoline blends," Dan McTeague, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst said.
Areas near Bakersfield and their current gas price climate:
- Santa Barbara- $2.96 per gallon, down 0.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.97 per gallon
- Los Angeles- $2.98 per gallon, up 1 cent per gallon from last week's $2.97 per gallon
- Ventura- $2.96 per gallon, up 1.3 cents per gallon from last week's $2.94 per gallon
