In honor of the one year anniversary of Merle Haggard's death, multiple events will be held around Kern County over the next week.

The newly restored boxcar home will be open for public display on that day.

On Wednesday, April 5, Country Dancing at Kern Pioneer Village will be held at 6 p.m.

On Friday, April 7, JC’s Place, 1901 Chester Ave., will celebrate the boxcar opening by hosting free line dancing at 6:30 p.m. Tastries Bakery, located in the same building, will sell guitar-shaped cookies during the festivities.

The Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame, 2231 R St., will host Boxcar Education Day on Saturday, April 8 at 11:45 a.m.
