The Kern High School District has canceled all of its indoor and outdoor activities for students on Friday.

Due to temperatures, which are expected to reach 109 degrees on Friday, the district decided to cancel activities. 

Stan Greene, director of school support services for the district, said 108 degrees is the "magic number" when it comes to deciding on canceling activities. 

He said the district will make that determination on a day-to-day basis.
