The California High-Speed Rail Authority has agreed to a deal to purchase the Bakersfield Homeless Center.

The Bakersfield Homeless Center announced the agreement on Tuesday morning, stating in a press release that a deal was finalized in October.

According to the Homeless Center, its current facility at 1600 East Truxtun Avenue will remain open for up to five years before relocating to a new facility.

In the press release, Louis Gill, CEO of the Bakersfield Homeless Center said, "We are grateful to have finalized this agreement with The High-Speed Rail Authority. Longtime donors and supporters have been patiently waiting for an answer to our future. We will now be able to start having those conversations. We are starting to make plans that will allow us to better serve those in need in our community."

Specifics on the new Bakersfield Homeless Center location have yet to be determined.
