The Bakersfield Republican Women, Federated, held a luncheon on Tuesday with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy serving as the keynote speaker.

McCarthy told the group that uniting the party is essential before the November election, which is just 90 days away.

He added that the state of the country is similar to the late 1970s, just before Ronald Reagan took office.

Members of the Bakersfield Republican Women expressed optimism that the Republican Party, which has been engaged in a civil war of sorts in recent weeks, will unite and win the White House in the fall.
